Alfreda Edna Estelle Hall

Alfreda Edna Estelle Davis Hall was the fifth child born to the late Caesar and Sarah (Foreman) Davis on December 5th 1934. Alfreda was born in Rusk County near Henderson, Texas. She was raised by her parents in a Christian home. Her parents set the standard by modeling strong Christian standards and solid parenting skills that influenced Alfreda to accept Jesus Christ at an early age when she was baptized. As a child, Alfreda had a strong, independent, self-determining drive that was a challenge for her parents. However, her mother increased the level of discipline to keep her safe.

As a younger sister to her older brothers Cornelious and Richard, Alfreda enjoyed being with them and participating in their activities. She was drawn to join in the roughness of their play, when she was reminded that a certain activity was not "ladylike."

Alfreda carried her independent drive and personality throughout her life. She spent her elementary school years in the Henderson public schools. Her family moved from Henderson to Longview, Texas where she finished her elementary school years. Her family then moved to Greenview, Texas where she spent the remainder of her high school years, and graduated from Carver High School and entered cosmetology school in Dallas Texas.

In 1956 she met her husband, Joe Lee Hall. To this union one child was born, Joe B. Hall. In 1961, Alfreda moved her family from Dallas to Boulder, Colorado, and has resided here since. After becoming settled, she joined Second Baptist Church, where she sang in the adult choir and later served as a Deaconess.

Alfreda began to dream again and attended the Bon Ton Beauty School located in Denver. With her ambitious drive and motivation (as a single parent), she made a career change in 1971 and began her college career at the University of Colorado, Boulder campus. Alfreda graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology in 1976. She continued her coursework for an additional six months at Colorado State University. Alfreda worked as a social worker for Boulder County and retired after 21 years.

The legacy she leaves for her family and others is love, friendship, and encouragement to follow your dreams.

Her hobbies: baking and preparing southern home-style meals.

Her greatest joys were being a mother and raising her son with the help of God and family, and of course, being blessed to be a grandmother and great-grandmother.
