Bruce Dalton

December 18, 1939 — February 18, 2016

Bruce Bennett Dalton, son of Glen Porter Dalton and Dorothy Bennett Dalton, passed away peacefully at home on February 18 from complications of COPD.  He was preceded in death by father, mother, and his brother Glen Dalton, Jr.  He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marilyn Dalton; daughters Kim Dalton Petranick (Brian), Kristen Dalton Donlon (Brion), and Kelly Dalton Reichmeider (Scott); 4 granddaughters, Elena Petranick, Olivia Petranick, Quinn Donlon, and Kendall Donlon; one grandson, Alexander Petranick; and his brother, Carl Dalton.
Bruce was born on 12/18/1939 in New York City, NY, before moving to Schenectady, NY, where he grew up.  After moving to Bethesda, MD, he attended and was a proud member of the first graduating class of Walter Johnson High School in 1958, where he designed the school emblem that still sits among the floor tiles in the school today.  Bruce attended the University of Colorado where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, and was an active member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.  There he met Marilyn Martin whom he married in St. Louis, MO, in 1962.  Bruce and Marilyn settled in Boulder where they raised their three daughters.  Bruce spent 42 years working in the field of architecture and retired in 2005.  He and Marilyn enjoyed their retirement by spending several weeks each summer "glamping" in their fifth wheel trailer in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and Idaho. Bruce was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Boulder where he served in the Usher Ministry for over 45 years.  He was also very involved in several COPD-related support groups since he was diagnosed over 10 years ago.
