Celso Cruz was born June 23, 1944, in Pasamonte, New Mexico to Esteban Cruz and Tonita Cruz (Lopez). Celso spent his early years in small towns in Northern New Mexico working on ranches where he learned to be highly skilled with his hands. In 1963 he moved to Denver to pursue job opportunities, eventually having a long career as a truck driver. Celso was a self-taught carpenter and gained great satisfaction from his many carpentry projects. Celso also enjoyed sketching drawings of animals, taking inspiration from animals from his early years on the ranch. Celso was an avid sports fan of the Denver Broncos and Denver Nuggets. Celso loved his many friends from his almost daily coffee meetings at local Denver area diners. Celso is survived by his first wife Viola Barker (Vigil) and their three children, Celso Cruz Jr, Lawrence Cruz, and LoryAnn Karuhadet and by his second wife Janet Cruz (Koerselman) and their three children, Randy Cruz, Tracey Grigg and Isaac Cruz. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Johnny Cruz, Sam Cruz, Ernie Cruz, Fares Cruz, Alfonso Cruz, Arthur Cruz, Beatrice Maestas and Julie Nicholson. Celso was predeceased by his parents Esteban and Tonita and siblings Betty Lucero, Steve Cruz and Lucia Valles.

A visitation and viewing will be held on April 4th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Greenwood & Myers Mortuary located at 502 Walnut Street Frederick, CO 80530. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
