DeWitt Hackett

DeWitt Clayton Hackett, born on October 10, 1934, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, at the age of 90. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-father, whose life was defined by his unwavering kindness, generosity, and dedication to his family.

DeWitt(Bud) and his twin DeYonne(Bee) were born in Chisholm, Minnesota to DeWitt Clinton and Jennie Hackett and spent his early years surrounded by the love and warmth of his close-knit family and friends. During his high school years he met Barbara Jean Salvi whom Bud would marry in October 1957 after Barb finished college and Bud completed his Navy tour. The Newly weds moved to Boulder where Bud earned an engineering degree from the University of Colorado and later found employment with the US Defense Contractors- DOW Chemical and Rockwell International. Bud and Barb purchased a home in 1963 where they would raise five children and Bud resided in until his passing. After 52 wonderful years together, Barb was diagnosed with cancer which took her from Bud and he longed to be with her again.

Bud is survived by his children, Donn and Terri Hackett of Litchfield Park, AZ., David Hackett of Boulder, CO., Greg and Beth Hackett of Monte Vista, CO., Jean Hackett of Denver, CO., and Mary Hackett of Niwot, CO., his five grandchildren, Bradley Hackett, Kristi and Zack Menske, Taylor and Justin Hasci, Alana Hackett, and Colby Hackett, his three great grandchildren, Dawson and Becklyn Hasci, and Amelia Menske.

Our father and grandfather will be greatly missed.
