Jeannine Wolfe Henderson
Jeannine Wolfe Henderson, a dedicated educator, passionate advocate, and tireless volunteer, passed away Nov 3, 2025 at the age of 96. Born in Atwood, Kansas, on January 4, 1929, Jeannine's remarkable life was marked by intellectual curiosity, an unwavering commitment to her community, and a deep love for her family.
Jeannine's journey began in rural Kansas, where she developed the resilience and strong spirit that would define her life. After WWII, she met and married Raymond Henderson. The couple began their married life in Phillipsburg, KS and later moved to Salina, KS, where they started their family. Seeking new opportunities, they purchased a Benjamin Franklin franchise in Broomfield, CO. They moved to Boulder where Ray started selling real-estate and Jeannine would continue her career.
Jeannine was a lifelong learner. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas (KU) and later her Master of Education from the University of Colorado (CU). While raising three children, she pursued her calling as an educator, inspiring countless students with her vibrant teaching style. She taught Spanish, English, and Speech at several schools across the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD), including Broomfield High, Burbank Junior High, and Fairview High School. Driven by a desire to lead and advocate for her colleagues, Jeannine left the classroom to become the president of the BVSD Teachers Union, where she strived to improve the working lives and professional standing of educators.
Jeannine was not one to sit still. Outside of her professional life, she was an active volunteer, devoting significant time and resources to her community and causes close to her heart. A faithful member, she served Cairn Christian Church (formerly First Christian Church of Boulder) in many capacities. She was also a dedicated member of P.E.O., a philanthropic organization committed to promoting college education for women.
Jeannine shared her many talents and passions-sewing, knitting, cooking, and gardening-with her family, friends, and church community. She was a truly great cook, known for her green chili that became a cherished Christmas Eve tradition. Her sticky cinnamon rolls brought warmth to countless mornings. Her hands were rarely idle, creating Halloween costumes for all six of her grandchildren, as well as treasured communion and prom dresses that are now woven into the family's history.
Jeannine's legacy is carried on by her loving family: her children Scott Henderson, Mike (Ann) Henderson, and Kim (Drew) DaHarb. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Conner (Melyssa), Caley, Meghan and Patrick Henderson; Tori (Vess) and Kelsey DaHarb; and her great-granddaughter, Sofia.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Henderson, her parents, Merle and Kermit "Doc" Wolfe and brother Delloit Wolfe.
Her intellect, her drive, and her compassionate spirit will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Services are planned for next summer at Cairn Christian Church in Boulder, with final interment of her remains taking place in Atwood, Kansas. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Cairn Christian Church or to a local hospice organization, honoring Jeannine's lifelong commitment to faith and compassionate care.
