John William Deluca

Dr. John William DeLuca, the oldest of three siblings , at age 73, of Boulder, Colorado passed away July 12, 2026.. He was born February 5, 1963, in Yakima, Washington to the late Leo J. and Maude Rose DeLuca. As a child he was in the Boy Scouts, was a bat boy for the Detroit Tigers in the 1960s, loved trains, baseball, bowling, and hockey, At age 13 he made furniture using the Porta Shop and also worked for the company. He worked at Ford Motor until he graduated from Divine Child High School in Dearborn, Michigan, in 1971. He was the brother of Jan (Ron) Dandrea, and Richard (Karen) Deluca who preceded him in death. He was the Uncle to his nephew Richard DeLuca (son of Richard and Karen). He received his B.A. (1975) and M.A.(1978) in psychology from the University of Detroit, his M.A. in Asian Studies (1981, specialty Indian and Tibetan Buddhism) from the University of Michigan, granted a second M.A. in experimental psychology from the University of Detroit (1981) and his Ph.D. in Clinical Neuropsychology (1986) from University of Windsor in 1986. He interned at Windsor Western Hospital (1983-1986) and clinical consultant at Henry Ford Hospital (1984-1985)

In Michigan John worked at Hawthorn Center, working with adjudicated Youth, Chief Psychologist in Adolescent Service at Lafayette Clinic, Director of the Neuropsychology lab at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, and had his own private practice. He was an adjunct Professor at the University of Windsor in psychology department and an Assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. In Colorado he was an independent contractor and had a private practice. In his field he published 11 journal articles, 7 book chapters, 52 published abstracts, presentations and symposia,` and presented 46 different lectures, seminars, and workshops.

He also had two entries of art that was juried at Art Exhibitions. These were both in 2004, One was called TaraL A Loving Glance a charcoal painting. The other was Takhsang: The Tiger’s Lair.
