Joseph (Joe) Lynn Runyan, 86, passed over to his Lord on July 12, 2026.

He is survived by his son James and daughter-in-law Donna of Boulder; his brother Myron of Huntingburg, IN; his sister Sarah, niece Lori (Erick); great-niece Kyla; and great-great niece Lyla of Fort Myers, FL. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers John, Charlie and David Runyan. Joe will also be greatly missed by his dear friend Kathy Apodaca of Lafayette, Kevin Cook of Boulder; and so many other friends he worked with at the United States Post Office.

Joe was a very patriotic person and served in the Army in the late 50's. Joe was an avid Denver BRONCOS fan, holding season tickets for decades. He loved his sports and followed the Ohio State Buckeyes and Colorado Buffaloes college football teams, as well as the Colorado Rockies Baseball organization.

Joe LOVED his church and was a member of The Community United Church of Christ in Boulder since 1969. Joe also loved his job at the post office; he worked there nearly 40 years and then continued working for Brookfield Uniforms, keeping his close connection with all his postal friends. Joe didn't officially retire until he was forced to by COVID at 80 years old!

He was also an active member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and the postal union, holding several positions throughout the years. Joe ran and then "walked" the Boulder Bolder 10 K race since it started in 1979. Joe had a quick, witty sense of humor; he really loved to make people laugh. He was a sincere, kind person and was always quick to volunteer his time whenever he was asked.

Most of all, Joe loved his son James; he was the apple of his eye. "Dad" is going to be sorely missed by us, James and Donna.
