Mary "Mimi" Feltes White

Mary F. White, "Mimi", of Boulder, CO., formerly of Cohasset and Hingham, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026. She was born on 7/25/1934 in Winnetka, Ill to Norman R. Feltes and Madeleine McGarry Feltes and was predeceased by her two brothers, Norman and Michael Feltes. She graduated from New Trier High School, and attended Manhattanville College in New York, where she met her late ex-husband, Allan R. White, Jr. Mimi raised her beloved six children in Cohasset. When her youngest left the nest, she continued her education, getting her M.E.D from Boston College, and taking courses in comparative religions at Harvard Divinity School. For several years, she worked for the Archdiocese of Boston, pioneering drug and alcohol education for families, and running workshops in parenting. She took up hiking and rock climbing at age 55, summitting Mount Kilamanjaro, doing treks in Nepal and rim-to-rim hikes in the Grand Canyon. She also learned to windsurf while she was in her 60's, loved gardening and took to organic farming at Holly Hill Farm in Cohasset. Mimi had a profound love of nature and all things from the ocean. Always a seeker, Mimi went on trips to Dharamsala, India to learn from His Holiness the Dalai Lama; and to Vietnam with Thich Nhat Han on his first trip back to his home country. She was a life-long learner in every sense, and an accomplished artist and an award-winning sculptor.
Mimi had an expansive circle of friends and family, who will miss her irreverent wit and humor. She is survived by her large family of 6 children: Lisa (Chris Spellman) of Southborough, MA; Rick (Rebecca) of Boulder, CO; Susan (Robert Kubacki) of Greenfield, MA; Ron (Casey) of Durango, CO; Jerry (Kelly) of Accokeek, MD; and Nick (Sue Kraemer) of Seattle, WA. She is also missed by her 14 beloved grandchildren: Kate, Sara (Jake Drouse), Kylie, Quincy, Kaziah (Eli Kane), Jackson (Brittany), Bo, Marianna, Jay, Susan, Harrison, Eli, Ben and Georgia; and her 2 great grandchildren, Sam and Riley Drouse.
A Memorial service will be held in Hingham, MA at Glastonbury Abbey (16 Hull St, Hingham) on 3/21/2026 beginning at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, you are invited to send donations in Mimi's memory to Rosie's Place, 889 Harrison Ave, Boston, MA 02118 or to the Vedanta Center, 130 Beechwood St, Cohasset, MA 02025.
