Maurine A Hobbs passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026 in Boulder, Colorado. She was 93 years old. With hearts filled with sorrow, love, and gratitude, we say goodbye to our amazing mother, Maurine Augusta (Buckley) Hobbs.
Maurine was born in Brooklyn NY on 3/31/32, where she enjoyed many adventures with her big brother Edmund Buckley, and little brother Ralph Buckley. After their parents' divorce at age four, they grew up in an orphanage on Staten Island. The experience taught her that all people are equally valuable and have different gifts, talents, beauty, and strengths that they bring to life. She raised us with those beliefs and standards, and we are forever grateful for the deep love, compassion, and beauty she showed to all.
She was smart beyond her education and became one of the first female computer programers in Colorado through a testing program offered in the early 1960s. She worked for Woodman of the World Insurance company in Denver for more than 10 years, followed by the City of Boulder and NOAA. Later she wanted to continue her education and attended the University of Colorado.
She is survived by her best friend and companion in life Terry J. Armitage and six children: J. Arnie Hobbs (Paula), Robert D. Hobbs, Theresa L. Forrester (Dave), Maurine R Hobbs, Diana L Royce, and Patricia M Titus, and five grandchildren: Jaime D Foster, Jessica S. Bellis (Joe), Joseph R. Vegas III, Breanna D. Vegas, and I. N. James; and one great-grandchild Shelby L Bellis.
