Michael Friedrich Burgermeister Age 74 Passed away on April 15th, 2026, at home surrounded by his family and loved ones. Michael was born in Dolgesheim Germany, in the year 1951. Once he became a teenager he decided to move to Mainz where he studied to become a chef at trade school. After completing his program, at the age of 18 years old, he was given the opportunity to travel to the United States for work. Michael jumped at the opportunity and eventually found himself working in Washington DC. His career took him across the United States. From Las Vegas where he worked in culinary at the Tropicana Hotel, to Colorado where he co-owned his own restaurant, and California where he owned and operated his own café. Eventually Michael settled down in Colorado where he ran a locally beloved store, Bayleaf on Pearl. Bayleaf stood as an expression of Michael's never-ending creativity and love for interior design. Michael is survived by his son Scott Burgermeister, Sister Doris Schmidt, Brother Norbert Burgermeister, and Reinhold Burgermeister. Memorial Service will be private. Michael will be remembered most of all, as a lover. He deeply loved his family, his friends, delicious food, exceptional wines, and most of all, life itself. There can be no doubt that Michael Burgermeister loved life in a way that few do. This love was tangible to all who knew him. His presence in this world will be dearly missed.
