After an eleven-year, valiant and courageous battle with Leiomyosarcoma, Bob finally succumbed on July 1, 2026. He was 78 years old. He was known for his love of life, kindness, generosity and humor. He will be sorely missed not only by his family but by all who had the opportunity to interact with this very special man.

He is survived by his adoring wife and partner for over 30 years Marjorie (Lange), his children Adam David Schaffner MD (Marcie Rubin), Jodi Lynn (Bryan Sugar), grandchildren Miles, Brett and Sybil Schaffner and Sari and Jamie Sugar, and his sister Helaine Greenberg (late George Greenberg). Bob was born in Chicago, IL on April 4, 1948 to Arnold and Adele (Marco). He was predeceased by his parents, brother-in-law and grandson Seth Sugar.

He was a graduate of Roosevelt University, a CPA and practiced in public accounting for 5 years before serving as a financial officer for both public and private real estate companies for 35 years.

Raised in Chicago, a graduate of Senn High School, he served as a board member, treasurer and volunteer to Congregation BJBE, Union of American Hebrew Congregations, Habitat for Humanity, ACE at the J, Cultivate and Olde Stage Water District in both Chicago and Boulder.

Services will be held at Congregation Har Hashem, 3950 Baseline Road, on July 7, 2026 at 10 AM with a Celebration of Life immediately following at Greenwood and Myers Mortuary, 2969 Baseline Road. All are welcome.
