To call Sam exceptional does not do him justice. He had many and varied interests, all of which he pursued tirelessly. He was an accomplished musician (especially on the snare drum), and loved cooking, anything STEM, playing Go, and spending time with his closest friends and family. In many ways, his intellect defined him. He favored meaningful conversation, and vigorously debated the things that mattered to him. He cared deeply about the state of the country and world, and made efforts to leave both better than he found them. Sam will be remembered by his family as kind, thoughtful, caring, and brilliant in both senses of the word. He is deeply loved and will be fiercely missed.
