Listen to Obituary

Dear Family and Friends,

I'm writing to share the obituary of Scott William Callan.

Scott was a devoted family man, accomplished athlete, successful real estate developer, and a man whose life was guided by integrity, loyalty, and a strong sense of fair play.

He was a gifted athlete who played football in high school and went on to play baseball at UCSD. Throughout his life, he cherished his family and friends and maintained a deep love for the mountains of Colorado. After returning to Colorado, he graduated from the University of Colorado and began building a successful career in real estate.

Scott's professional accomplishments reflected his vision, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit. He worked as a property manager for a national real estate developer in Phoenix, Arizona, where he met his wife, Myra Calley. They were married on May 9, 1982, beginning a life together built around family, friendship, and shared memories.

As a highly successful real estate developer, Scott made a lasting mark on the Boulder community. Among his accomplishments was the redevelopment of an old grocery store in downtown Boulder into nine luxury condominiums. He also designed and built the Dean Callan and Company office building in Boulder, leaving behind a legacy of thoughtful development and lasting contributions to the community.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Scott's name to either the Alzheimer's Association or Tunnel to Towers at t2t.org.

There will be a gathering at a future date.

Outside of his professional life, Scott enjoyed following the Colorado Buffaloes, skiing, and attending the National Western Stock Show. Whether on the playing field, on the slopes, or in his work, he valued dedication, honesty, and doing things the right way.

Like his father, Dean Callan, Scott was known for his unwavering commitment to integrity and fair play. These values were central to who he was and shaped the way he approached his work, his relationships, and his life.

Scott is survived by his wife, Myra Calley; his three daughters, Lisa Lewis, Liz Callan, and Gina Calley; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Dave Callan, and Dave's wife, Carol Callan; and his sister, Becky Gamble, and her husband, Bruce Gamble. He is also survived by three nephews and one niece.

His family was an important part of his life, and his love for them will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

Scott will be remembered for his athletic spirit, professional accomplishments, love of Colorado, and, above all, his integrity and devotion to those he loved. His influence lives on through his family, the friendships he nurtured, the values he upheld, and the lasting mark he left on the Boulder community.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
