Sharon Herdman, a dedicated school teacher and administrator, passed away peacefully at her home in Boulder, Colorado on November 20, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on February 2, 1950, in Lake Forest, Illinois, Sharon was a beacon of education and inspiration to many throughout her career.A proud alumna of St. Norbert College, Sharon pursued her passion for teaching with commitment and kindness, touching the lives of countless students. She found immense joy in her role as an educator, believing in the transformative power of knowledge. Throughout her career, she shaped young minds, fostering a love for learning in her classrooms.Sharon cherished the time spent in the warm company of her family. She celebrated many significant milestones, including the birth of her son, Trent, and was overjoyed by his marriage to Dr. Justine Zhang. The arrival of her grandson, Wendell, brought her immeasurable pride and joy, marking some of her proudest accomplishments.In addition to her devotion to education and family, Sharon had a passion for traveling, particularly enjoying time spent living in London, England and Madrid, Spain. Her love for adventure complemented her vibrant personality and zest for life.Sharon is lovingly remembered by her husband, Michael Herdman, to whom she was married on September 29, 1973; her son, Dr. Trent Herdman (Auckland, New Zealand); her daughter-in-law, Dr. Justine Zhang; her grandson, Wendell Herdman Zhang; and her brother Ronald Whitaker. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Morris Whitaker and Arline Abernathy.Visitation will be held at Kristan Funeral Home & Cremation Service, located at 219 W Maple Ave, Mundelein, Illinois, on December 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM, after which Sharon will be laid to rest at Ascension Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1920 Buckley Rd, Libertyville, Illinois.Sharon Herdman's legacy of love, education, and adventure will forever be cherished by those she leaves behind. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
