Steve was born on May 8, 1955, at Alma Hospital in Alma, Nebraska, to Merlin and Ellen Medinger. He attended Alma Public Schools, where he was active in football, basketball, and band. He graduated with the Class of 1973 before continuing his education at Peru State College. While at Peru, Steve played football and earned a bachelor's degree in Science and Education.
Faith was the foundation of Steve's life. He was a devoted member of St. John's Catholic Church in Loveland, Colorado, where he faithfully served as a deacon. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, dedicating countless hours to serving his parish and community.
Steve had a lifelong love of music and generously shared his gift of song with others. Throughout the years, he sang at numerous weddings and funerals, offering comfort, joy, and inspiration through his voice. His faith and music touched the lives of many and will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merlin and Ellen Medinger; his brother, Monte Medinger; his brother-in-law, Dick Naylor; and his niece, Kim Long.
Steve is survived by his daughters, Samantha Medinger of Kearney, Nebraska, and Stephanie Medinger (Josh) of Kearney, Nebraska; his cherished granddaughter, Rivyn Borden of Kearney, Nebraska; his brother, Bernie Medinger (Gwen) of Crete, Nebraska; and his sister, Dodie Naylor of Berthoud, Colorado. He also leaves behind extended family, fellow parishioners, and many dear friends who will remember him with love and gratitude.
Steve's greatest legacy was the love he shared with his family, his unwavering faith, and his commitment to serving others. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his servant's spirit, his beautiful singing voice, and the quiet example he set through a life lived with compassion and devotion. Though he is no longer with us, his memory and the lives he touched will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
