Stuart David Walsworth

Stuart David Walsworth – beloved son, husband, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025, on Monarch Pass in Colorado. He spent the day doing what he loved – being outdoors under bluebird skies, surrounded by mountains, riding epic singletrack and, most importantly, enjoying big smiles riding bikes with dear friends. Stuart passed peacefully and quickly at age 58 with undiagnosed atherosclerotic heart disease.

Stuart leaned into life. He often said, “Good things happen when you show up,” and “I’m not here for a long time; I am here for a good time.” He was a true friend to many and invested in relationships, especially his wife and best friend Jenn. Stuart was the guy that picked up the phone or sent a text to check in on his friends and family. He truly cared about people and was fully present with them. A friend said, “You could really feel Stuart’s love when he talked to you,” and another wrote, “He was the glue that kept us all together,” and “He made everyone he met feel special and cared about, as if they had known him for years.” Stuart was a man who made life brighter for everyone around him. His combination of wit, charisma, humor, and positive energy was irresistible.

Stuart dearly loved his mother, Janet. They spent hours on the phone and enjoyed laps around the golf course, morning hikes, coffee on the deck, and simply being together.

The family will forever treasure classic childhood memories—catching crawdads by the river, riding dirt bikes at Chadwick, epic road trips in the Thunderbird, and floating rivers in Missouri and Arkansas.

His most cherished and longest friendships started in elementary school. From their steady attendance at Mighty Might football games (mostly for the snacks), to baseball and basketball leagues, all the way through Glendale and Kickapoo high school lore. Stuart was one of those special people that everyone gravitated to and was the strongest link in the chain of so many relationships, friendships, and deep human connections. Today, 50 years later these friends have an unwavering commitment to each other.

Stuart loved travel and adventure with friends and family. You name the country; Stuart probably visited it. Stuart was a strong athlete and excelled at many sports. He loved racing mountain bikes and, more recently, gravel. He completed nine Leadville Trail 100-mile mountain bike races and became a Leadman—competing in all the Leadville run and bike events within six weeks, including the brutal 100-mile trail run. Stuart completed only one full Ironman Triathlon. Although he enjoyed the training, triathlons weren’t his thing, and he sold his tri bike after only 200 miles. But fly-fishing with his nephew Cole was at the top of his list of outdoor activities, and every January he would resolve to fish more.

He was a trusted counselor to family members navigating life's challenges, always ready with thoughtful advice over morning coffee or a glass of wine. Although Stuart tormented his sister Stacey as a child, they were dear adult friends. He was, as she put it, “her rock.”

Stuart attended Drury University, where he played tennis, studied business, and built a lifelong network of friends that continues to thrive today. Stuart was often the first person to arrive at any gathering and the last to leave. His friends treasured the countless trips and adventures they shared with him – Stuart always had their back.

Stuart was proud to follow in the family business, Walsworth Sales, and join his dad, John Walsworth. Stuart excelled in his 25-year career supporting various divisions of Amphenol as their manufacturing representative. His success was due to his ability to build genuine, longstanding, meaningful relationships with his customers and colleagues through his positive, infectious energy and dedication to doing the next right thing. He learned these traits from his father from early business training. Stuart’s consistent mantra: work was always about the people. Many colleagues became lifelong friends from around the world.

Stuart dearly loved his niece and nephew Bailey and Cole. His sister remembers that his face lit up with wonder when he held them for the first time. Regular skiing, fishing, biking — and the famous Forrest Gump run — made Uncle Stu magic. Stuart was great with kids.

Stuart moved to Colorado in 1993 and loved all that it offered. From skinning up snowy peaks in winter to mountain biking down rugged trails in summer, exploring Colorado’s outdoors wasn’t just part of his routine—it was at the core of who he was and what he loved most.

His friends nicknamed him “Disco Stu” for his legendary collection of pointy shoes. They loved to joke that from an early age he earned 'Best Dressed' in both 5th and 11th grade—and admired how, later in life, he was known for his appreciation of art, design, and architecture.

Stuart met his wife Jenn Dice at the 2008 Leadville Trail 100 registration line, and they never looked back. They loved each other deeply and felt lucky to find each other. Mountain biking, traveling the globe, participating in all the Colorado sports and just loving up the “best thing we ever did” dogs Lucy and Olive. Stuart and Jenn quickly folded into each other’s friend networks through the love of bicycling and the great outdoors. Dozens of travel adventures and life memories with friends centered around the mountain bike. In one of their early relationship trips, Stuart and Jenn and a team hiked up and mountain biked down Mount Kilimanjaro (twice). They followed it up with a three-day mountain bike stage race circumnavigating a glacier in Iceland.

From Peloton One to the Santa Run, the Galápagos to Argentina, Alchemists gatherings to Breck Epics and Rules of 3’s, countless Leadville races, and Airstream adventures to Arkansas road trips—Stuart and Jenn packed in the fun. They built a life of love, adventure, and drew family and friends into their orbit. But their best moments were the simple, quiet walks with Olive and Lucy—soaking in the world through nature, hiking, and just being together.

Stuart loved Jenn’s family and fell into a deep and meaningful friendship with his father-in-law Tom Dice, spending hours talking late into the night and traveling together on fun bike trips domestic and abroad. He was nurtured and loved by his mother-in-law Charlys Dice. He loved his nephews Max, Ben, and Owen and treasured showing them his favorite Colorado places, playing sports, and holiday time. He loved and respected his sister and brother-in-law Jacquelyn and Dusty.

Eighteen years together, Stuart and Jenn were not slowing down and were full of plans for their next chapter in life in Colorado and Arkansas and spending more meaningful time with friends and family.

Stuart inspired us all to live a rich and full life and, most important, invest in friends. He was a true friend to many.

He is also survived by maternal cousin Randy Robertson of Springfield, MO.
• He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Norman and Evelyn Brott, of Springfield, MO; and maternal aunt and uncle, Judy and Jim Robertson, of Springfield, MO. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lee and Marie Walsworth, of Springfield, MO.
• He is survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Charlys Dice; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jacquelyn and Dusty Johnson; and nephews Max, Ben, and Owen of Mitchell, SD.

This will be a time for friends and family to share stories about how Stuart made life great (Green Mountain and Chautauqua are a mile apart.)

— Biking and walking - Stuart’s mountain bike friends will be organizing a short slow bike ride from the Graveside Service to the Celebration of Life (1.2 miles) and others will be walking and hiking through Chautauqua Park to the ceremonies. Everyone welcome.
