Trudi Kinser

August 9, 1951 — September 16, 2020

Trudi Eve Kinser, passed away on September 16, in her home in Pinecliffe, CO, following a short illness. Trudi left an indelible impression on everything and everyone with her energy, enthusiasm and her outlook on life. She was a loving mother and wife. She was an artist, a creator, and a visionary who curated many, many things. She had an eye for color and enjoyed dressing in her own form of fashion, with her closet resembling a small boutique clothing store filled with beautiful pieces from around the world. She was an amazing cook having studied at Le Cordon Bleu cooking school. One of her greatest abilities was getting maximum performance out of her first car: a 1966 Volkswagen Beetle especially when accompanied by an Old English Sheepdog sitting in the passenger seat.

Trudi was born August 9, 1951 in Tacoma, WA and lived in several places, including Japan, Germany, and lastly Denver as her father was a lifetime Air Force officer. She attended high school in Denver and then attended the University of Colorado where she majored in sociology. It was there that she met her husband of 45 years during the time of the Vietnam War protests. Trudi worked in various manufacturer’s representative businesses, and ultimately purchased a small audio distribution business that she developed into TKO Inc. focusing on high-end audio distribution to boutique audio/visual stores in the Rocky Mountain region.

She and her husband enjoyed home remodeling, and after a house remodel in Boulder, a first house from the ground up in Lafayette, they relocated to Pinecliffe in 1983 to rescue a skeleton of a house that would take 30 years to complete. Trudi was an avid collector and integrated everything together throughout their eclectic home. The family traveled together extensively across the globe, and used Christmas as the time when they would pick an exotic destination with Trudi planning an elaborate journey that was often off the beaten path. Some standouts included living on a dhow near the Strait of Hormuz in the Arabian Gulf, walking through quicksand in the Peruvian Amazon, and journeying on camels in the Tunisian Sahara.

Trudi was a pet lover and a breeder of Old English Sheepdogs. She amassed a family of cats and more recently rescue-dogs too numerous to count but each one unique with the most memorable being named Ethan, Einstein, Putney, Doobie One Eye, Famous, and Mattie.

She leaves her husband, Michael McGrath, her daughter Hartley Eve, in Seattle, WA, a sister Christina Kinser, in Lafayette, CO, and a brother Bruce, in Coral Gables, FL. She is preceded in death by her father, Vernon Clay Kinser born in California, her mother Gertrude Otilia (Westeiner) born in Munich, and her brother Mark.
